A detailed Summary of Why Bother with College?

In the essays by Bird and Staples, we learn that many, or atleast quite a few, people

believe that college is a waste of everyone's efforts. I, on the other hand, believe that not

to be true. In today's world you need to have a decent college education to really get

somewhere in our society. Sure, Einstein never past a math class, but that doesn't mean

that people that do go to college are just wasting their time and money. In order to get

even a decent blue collar job today you will need at least some training in a higher

education place or in a vocational/tech. school, but you still have to pay for those. No

matter how one looks at it, a higher form of learning is necessary. What if i tell you that

you'd even get paid better when you graduate than you would if you never went at all?

Bird says, "The premise- which I no longer accept- that college is the best place

for all high school graduates grew out of a noble ideal." Yes, when America has no use

for high school graduates they tell us to go to college. And it is here where we learn to
