There are many different forms and definition of success. Some people see success as the gaining of fame and prosperity. Others, like Jr. Mendez see success as the achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted. Mr. Mendez gained personal success by being self-motivated, goal orientated, and by being able to overcome obstacles in his life. Growing up as a young man Mr. Mendez had a great desire for self-success. He was extremely self-motivated to be the best out there. Through grade school he thought that it was very important for him to be the leader of his class and to be the highest-ranking officer in any of his school social club activities. At a result of good leadership skills he was chosen many times to represent his school and the city of Corpus Christi in Austin, Texas for Boy State.
