A detailed Summary of "Religion, a Belief for the Pa
"Religion, a Belief for the Past"
A "belief" is generally defined as a statement, principle, or doctrine that a person or group accepts to be true. In my family of seven you can undoubtedly expect that not every one hold's the same beliefs to be true. My family is Roman Catholic, but my siblings and I are increasingly fading away from the faith.
My parents both lived in a mainly Christian populated area of eastern Pennsylvania, and also attended Jesuit high schools. Those schools, at that time, essentially programmed children while they were in their innocent youth. In those schools you are pretty much forced to believe in all the concepts of the Catholicism or you are told to suffer the consequences by going directly to Hell. After so many years, of what many believe to be brainwashing, how could any child not follow the religion. These days my mother is still a loyal catholic, still attends church on a regular basis, and seems enjoys it very much. While my dad on the other hand seems to attend just out of habit

I can't speak completely accurate on my mother's behalf but I think that she just feels the need to believe in some higher power, and since she was brought up as a Catholic, she believes that is the "right" religion. I on the other hand, don't believe that she should have continued to pass the beliefs that she was taught, onto her children. It is obvious to me that religion is becoming a thing of the past and people from earlier generations simply used it as a sense of security, guidance, and reassurance. Today we should be instilling our youth with a sense of individuality instead of conformity, and we need to let them decide whether they have the need for religion. If they feel they need a form of faith, then let them decide, which beliefs they feel are right.
One of the foremost reason I am so uncomfortable with religion is because most people are born and brought up into a creed, and really don't take the time to question why they believe in their faith, and confuse religious conviction with routine. You are not devout because you
