Asthma is the leading cause of student absentee in America. Asthma is a respiratory disease. It can be found in adults, but children are at a much higher risk of contracting this disease some of the symptoms are breathlessness and a tightening in the chest. It can be chronic, which means you live with this everyday or just temporary. Either form can be life threatening to you.

An asthma attack is when your lungs have a reaction with some sort of substance, or an activity you do. It causes your lungs to make you feel breathless and have a painful tight feeling in your chest. You may sometimes get a hacking cough, which is caused by a substance that is called phlegm. Phlegm goes into the lungs and causes a more intense cough. The tubes in your lungs called the bronchial tubes begin to partially block. This is a result of the swelling of the mucus membranes that line these muscles. This and the Phlegm result in the narrowing of the air passages. In the most severe cases this narrowing of the airways can become permanent over time.

The best way to control this without a body altering substance it is wisest to find what if triggering the attack and possibly eliminating it. To help with allergies it is a good idea to get an air purifier and see about keeping dust and allergens down to a minimum. Doctors now have a way to control or treat asthma sufficiently and effectively. The best way to diagnose asthma is to get a full allergy history done. Then when you find out what the trigger is you can put a stop to it. Doctors now can give you a special medications that can control and relieve symptoms of asthma, because people not understanding the difference between controller and reliever it is essential that you see a doctor about your asthma and ask questions about this new medical condition. Without the new medical breakthroughs we could have had a higher increase in the death poll between 1982 and 1995, when 40% of America had mortality ratings.
