Lord of the flies
In the movie, the pilot survives the plane crash and has to be taken care of by Simon. The reason that I believe that the director chose to do this was because it was easier to have the pilot there from the beginning of the book, than to make him fall out of the sky from the war in the background (which he also omitted). This was not a necessary change, but did give the movie an interesting twist. All in all, I would say that this was a bad move by the author because he reduced Simons role to a baby sitter. And not the Prophetic discoverer of the true nature of the beast.One of the books main characters Piggy, was a sniveling cry baby thought the entire movie.
