Lord of the flies

In the movie, the pilot survives the plane crash and has to be taken care of by Simon. The reason that I believe that the director chose to do this was because it was easier to have the pilot there from the beginning of the book, than to make him fall out of the sky from the war in the background (which he also omitted). This was not a necessary change, but did give the movie an interesting twist. All in all, I would say that this was a bad move by the author because he reduced Simons role to a baby sitter. And not the Prophetic discoverer of the true nature of the beast.

One of the books main characters Piggy, was a sniveling cry baby thought the entire movie. In the novel, he is an intelligent and integral part of the book, he acts almost like a p

arental figure in the novel. In the book, at the time of his death I felt sympathy. In the movie at the time of his death I felt joy. The whole Piggy baby twist was definitely not a pleasing variation from the novel.

The whole idea of the beastie in the movie is totally different than in the book. In the movie it is the captain, everybody actually knows that there is a beastie and it adds to show how scared these kids are. In the novel, the beastie is something from within themselves, that they take onto the island, it is there fears and themselves rolled into one. And when Simon figures out the fact that it is an almost a satanic element it adds to the fear. The movie failed to touch on this point and for this I was saddened. Therefore it was a bad move from the director.
