In my mind I was not sure what to expect. I knew that I was going to the Northbranch Restoration Project to aid in the effort and to get a better understanding of the book I had just read, Miracle Under the Oaks. The project was setup by an ecologist Steve Packard and my class had just read about his ventures in the book. During my time I helped to extract seeds from plants. From what I understood the seeds were going to be used to bring back species of plants to other sites in the area. Even though the task in itself was not of great significance I had a feeling that I had given my time to help the environment. In class we discussed about how people perceive nature and the environments in which they live. Many people including myself agreed that society takes the environment we live in for granted. This came to my mind as I worked in the field. The numbers of volunteers were in such few numbers that it disheartened me
