While researching the subject "Drug usage in sports", I have been able to find a lot of information of drugs that are being used and the side affects that they can cause. Many of the drugs that are used to enhance an athlete's ability usually have harmful side affects along with them. The first article by Robert Sullivan, and Sara Song goes into detail about the Summer Olympics in Sydney, what drugs will be used by athletes and the tests that will be done to ban them from competing. The second article is an ESPN special section where the author is not identified. The article goes into detail about what kind of an athlete would use anabolic steroids and how they are taken. The second half of the article goes into detail about the different side affects that are present in men and women after taking steroids for a period of time.
This first article is going to be a main resource for my research paper. This article has information on the top drugs that are taken to affect an athlete's ability. The article explains what each drug does to the human body and how the drug affects the athlete.
In both articles that I have found so far in my research both authors clearly state that illegal drugs to enhance athletes ability should be banned from all completive sports. Both authors state that most illegal drugs have many of side affects and that none of them are worth taking because the athlete's health is at risk. I agree with both of these authors on how they feel about illegal drugs being used in sports. I feel with more advanced drug testing they will be able to put a stop to these drugs being used.
