The Ethics of Living Jim Crow is about the life of a black man during the period of the Jim Crow laws. It talks about his childhood. It tells of a child trying to be a child, but being separated from the white children. The white children’s yard was green with grass and bushes, while the blacks’ yards were covered with cinders. It then tells about his first job in an optical company. He suffered many setbacks working for this company; he was a good worker. He was not allowed to learn anything. He was expected to just do his job and keep to himself. It also tells of his job working at a clothing store. Where he watched his bosses beat up a black lady for being late
