Steroids
Talent is shown when an athlete succeeds, on the field, in the water, on the track, winning is on the players mind. This can be such a big deal that athletes turn to steroid. Athletes that take steroids are running a big risk not only of getting caught but they are playing with their health and their life. Steroids is something that is illegal because experts say that it gives them an unfair advantage and because it can kill you. Steroids are used all over the world and in different ways. There are five main drugs that are banned: Anabolic steroids - these help athletes to build muscle, and to recover faster from training; Peptide hormones - these are substances that occur naturally in the body, but which produce similar effects to the anabolic steroids; Strong analgesic painkillers - such as morphine and other opiates; Stimulants - drugs like amphetamines and cocaine can raise the heart rate and may improve performance; Diuretics - chemicals that help the body to lose fluids, and may, for instance, be useful in helping boxers to meet their fighting weight. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport/hi/english/in_depth/2000/drugs_in_sport/newsid_859000/859465.stm
Steroids not only can kill you but they have many side effects that I am sure no one wants. For both sexes it causes aggressive acts that can hurt your self and others. Causes baldness, acne, insomnia, decreases sex drive. For males it increases risk of prostate enlargement and cancer, decreasing of testicular size, and gynecomastia which is the growth of breasts. For females it causes breast decrease osteoporosis and many other side effects. These things are insane. For the kids that are ten years old it is not really there fault because they do what their parents tell them to do. But older people that are in high school do these drugs. Freshmen in colleges want to start on the team so instead of practicing harder and work out more they run to the steroids witch is easier for them and faster. Steroids are not only harming the person that is taking them but also the person that they are competing against. Like in my case if a swimmer that I am competing against is using steroids its useless trying to beat him because I will not. Steroids are for cowards that cant do anything on there own. And for people that feel insecure of themselves and that don't believe on themselves. There are coaches that give these drugs to the athletes with out them knowing. Th
