The study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that

they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human

affairs is known as astrology. A horoscope is an astrological forecast, as of a

person's future, based on a diagram of the aspect of the planets and stars at a given

moment. Astrologists believe that the position of astronomical bodies such as

stars, planets, etc., at the moment of a person's birth and the position of the bodies

throughout that person's life reflect that person's character and destiny.

Chaldean civilization of around 3000 BC. China is believed to have developed its

own, independent system around the year 2000 BC. Other early forms of astrology

included those in ancient India and the Mayan civilization of Central America. It

also spread to Greece, where early astronomers such as Plato and Pythagoras

incorporated astrology into their theories about science and religion." (A History
