J.D Salinger's Catcher in the Rye depicts a young teenage boy, Holden Caulfield, who gets kicked out of private schools continuously and stays in New York City before returning home to tell his family of his failure. Salinger's main focus in the novel is Holden's maturing and growing. Maturity is shown through being on his own in NYC, having a former homosexual teacher and his use of judgment.
