Be It Resolved That the Private Lives of Political Figures Should Be Off Limits To the Media.The private lives of political figures should be off limits to the media for the following reasons: „h People (the general public) LOVE gossip. And stories about sex, drugs, violence and anything else that¡¦s ¡§juicy¡¨ is appealing to the public. The media feels the need to give this information to the public. It does well for the ratings of the station. Tabloids have a tendency to twist stories around, or add a sex scandal here or there. Political figures are an important part to society and hold regions together. „h Things that happened in the past are an excellent example of why private lives should be off limits. For example, a lot of politicians had their teen years in the sixties. Drugs were just becoming popular and people were expressing their individuality and freedom. If a politician smoked marijuana, the usual response to that is ¡§I didn¡¦t inhale¡¨. We all know they did. But the reason they say, ¡§I didn¡¦t inhale¡¨ is because if they said ¡§Yes, I smoked marijuana every day for 2 years, inhaled, and I don¡¦t deny that,¡¨ the media¡¦s response is ¡§He is a junkie, he¡¦s a criminal, he shouldn¡¦t be in office.¡¨ The me
