Be It Resolved That the Private Lives of Political Figures Should Be Off Limits To the Media.
The private lives of political figures should be off limits to the media for the following reasons:
„h People (the general public) LOVE gossip. And stories about sex, drugs, violence and anything else that's "juicy" is appealing to the public. The media feels the need to give this information to the public. It does well for the ratings of the station. Tabloids have a tendency to twist stories around, or add a sex scandal here or there. Political figures are an important part to society and hold regions together.
„h Things that happened in the past are an excellent example of why private lives should be off limits. For example, a lot of politicians had their teen years in the sixties. Drugs were just becoming popular and people were expressing their individuality and freedom. If a politician smoked marijuana, the usual response to that is "I didn't inhale". We all know they did. But the reason they say, "I didn't inhale" is because if they said "Yes, I smoked marijuana every day for 2 years, inhaled, and I don't deny that," the media's response is "He is a junkie, he's a criminal, he shouldn't be in office." The media wouldn't resp

Paparazzi, chasing stories for Reuters, are considered mostly responsible for the untimely and unfortunate accident that left most British people crying for days and had millions of people glued to their televisions in seek of any news involving the death of Princess Diana. What ultimately drives story seekers and photographers alike is the unstable appetite for celebrity news and gossip by the "need to know" people who desire and/or demand more and more information on these celebrities. People who put themselves in the public highlight usually accept that their lives have changed for eternity as long as there is that demand."
„h If you worked for a bank and you had a reputation for being a slut or "easy", would you want people, either customers or other employees to know of your sexual history? Wouldn't that be a bad reputation for the bank? It would be the same for a political party too. If Janet Reno were to have a sexual experience broadcast over the Internet, no one would talk about politics; they would only talk about her sex life. It would do her political party harm and no good would come of that. She would be known forever as a slut. Think Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton. What do we remember him as? The one who got oral sex preformed on him in the Oval Office. He has a wife and a daughter. "If Monica Lewinsky coverage wasn't about sex, why did Newsweek's original expose quote a real-estate agent on how she kept condoms by her be
