A detailed Summary of Evangelion

Evangelion is an anime series based in the Mecha Genre of animation. The concept of the series is survival, but at many a time this concept is betrayed by the many characters inner demons, and emotions which draws upon the question. What really is Survival? If survival is the ability to continue on with life in some way, or another then how would you interpret surviving in a world in which the Eco-System has been fully thrown out of balance.

In the year 2000 in Antarctica the first angel was discovered barried within the tundra. Then put under top secret by all the major goverments of the world. Scientists began to study the creature, but during the operation the Angel Adam (1st Angel) woke up, and in its rage manage to cover much of the Earth's Northern Hemisphere in a deluge of fire and Destruction. The Goverments involved fearing reprisal, and shock from the general populas passed the incident off as a comet impacting the earth. Considering that the possible threat of a 2nd impact may perhaps one day occur NERV the organization devised to eliminate, and study the phenomenon known as angels when, and where they appear was created. The general setting has been described, but the plot begins on the premise that NERV has been preparing for the return of the angels for 15 years waiting for their plan to be put into action. Finally on the day that the 3rd pilot Shinji Ikari pilot of Evangelion unit 01 is sent to Tokyo 3 by his Father Gendou Ikari the 2nd angel attack in nearly 15 years occurs. Gendou Ikari had not seen his son in more than 4 years, and suddenly summons his son to come to Tokyo 3, and then tells him to battle a 50 story tall monster. This is an excellent judgement of how fanatically dedicated he is to the Success of NERV. The 1st pilot Rae Ayanami was injured earlier in a test accident with EVA Unit 0. Shinji at first refused to pilot the EVA Unit 01, but after refusing Gendou Ikari sent for Rae Ayanami to pilot Unit 01 as they tried to load her into the EVA Shinji paused to examine her. Witnessing that she was bleeding from moving around opening up her old wounds he contemplated thinking that he must not hide he must pilot the angel if not for Tokyo 3, NERV, and the world, but for Rae.

At this point Rae has recovered fully, and you become more aware that Rae is very distant from reality more along the level of a machine than human.

Tokyo 3 in itself is a varitable fortress built on a Geo Front the buildings are built over what can only best be describe as very very big cavern 100sq miles or more. Whenever an attack of anykind occurs all the major buildings like skyscrapers and such burough under ground. This principle is built on a hydraulically suspended architecture that boasts the ingenuity of the Japanese in Technology and efficiency. Considering that Tokyo 3 is by comparison at least twice the size of the First Tokyo and most of the buildings in the city are nearly 100 or more stories tall which would require a lot of ingenuity and resources to create accepting that this is 15 years after the first Tokyo was abandoned. The 2nd Tokyo was never mentioned throughout the show but it can be logically assumed that they had a reason to build a 3rd for some necessary reason. So one thing they do kind of do in this series is boast about they're nations ability to maintain order build they're country into even a much more denser population then is today. However it is but a dream yet not a bad idea if such a Metropolitian Density level is needed.
