The designs of racing cars are purely based on aerodynamics, which improves the overall performance of the cars. The automobile industry is one of the worlds largest industries because cars have become an essential part of our lives. Most of the technological developments in the car industry are direct results of the advancements in motor sports. Racing cars date back to the early 1900’s. However, the cars original designs did not take aerodynamics into consideration, this was due to the lack of scientific research involved in the improvement and development of the cars. Rather, “the improvements were largely based on intuition and experience”(Barnard 132), so the cars original designs were flat and very box like. These designs encountered a lot of aerodynamic drag because aerodynamic forces begin to dominate at speeds above ninety kilometres per hour. However, the proper developments started to occur when academic and research institutions started to get involved with racing car designs in the 1930’s,”(Barnard 132) after generous funding by the German government. As a result, a lot of scientific theories are involved in the overall design of racing cars, for example the Bernoulli Effect was
