Americans had a tendency to buy imported goods that gave off the impression of wealth that they did not have. It was said that the misuse of the purchasing of goods harmed the Americans. The British were not prepared for America to protest and boycott the taxed goods. The economy was shifting in America, and this was a cause of the Revolution.
