Throughout the years, extinction has been a main topic in society. As the logging industry practices, the decline of our wildlife and the threat of extinction rise by the day. So the problems and solutions of this matter only become more complicated as time passes by. Many efforts and plans have been adopted to benefit both parties, but have they been effective? The Major PR Problem in this case study is that there are two parties that are not content with the choices and regulations placed on the logging industry, and the hopes to safe our wildlife. Throughout the past 300 years of the United States' history, over 200 species have become extinct. As many see it, the logging industry is doing more harm than good. Many animals are becoming extinct very rapidly, and more are being added to the endangered list. The Logging industry consists of obtaining lumber from the old-growth forests in various parts of the United States including Washington, Oregon, and Northern California. As the Associations realized that something had to be done, they had many meetings and debates to come to various conclusions. One of the first acts passed, was the Endangered Species Act (ESA). This act prohibited anyone from hurting endangered species. Also, they started Recovery Plans to help the endangered animals flourish once again. But as time went on, this act was overruled for different reasons such as the Gray rock Dam in Wyoming, 1979, and in 1992 when harvesting in certain areas began again. Something needed to be done, so the Bush administration made a plan to halt the dispute between the environmentalists and the logging industry by allowing limited harvesting areas. If I were in the position to have to settle this case, I don't think that I would have changed much. I understand the wants and needs of both parties as the environmentalists are trying to preserve the wildlife by limiting logging. But as you would have to understand, extinction or not, people have to eat. By limiting the logging industry, you are taking away thousands of jobs and the pay that supports people and their families. So I
