Le Morte d’Arthur is a novel full of visions and dreams that predict future occurrences. These dreams and visions are often interpreted by a hermit because the dreamer cannot determine the true significance of the dream or vision. Sir Launcelot often does not sleep well and dreams frequently. However, he does not interpret his dreams but relies completely on others to reveal their true meaning to him. Sir Launcelot has several important dreams and visions during his quest for the Holy Grail. These dreams and visions come to reveal vital information to Sir Launcelot about his quest and about himself. He does not always listen to the information that is provided by these dreams and visions though. During his quest for the Holy Grail, Sir Launcelot comes upon a stone cross beside an old chapel. He attempts to enter the chapel in hopes of finding some company but he cannot enter. He sees a silver candlestick with six candles burning inside the chapel. Because he cannot enter the chapel and be in the light he decides to sleep outside.
