The advertising industry

The Advertising Industry and Its Influence on Us.

The advertising industry has a tremendous influence in the way the American people think. It's something that we don't even understand completely because of how much it happens. We need to understand how we are being shown what to do by what the advertising industry wants us to do. We need to be able to look and see what and advertisement is really selling. If we are able to see what they are really trying to sell us we will be able to think for ourselves and determine what we really need. I will show some of the ways advertisers market items and the tricks they use.

Everyday in about everything I do I see advertisements everywhere. Sometimes advertisements are very well hidden and others so very obvious. As I drive to work daily I look out my windows of my car, and what am I obligated to see everyday? I am obligated to see huge billboards advertising so many different things everyday. For example I see advertised on the I-10 strip club advertisements that I do not want to see. It is almost like taking away my agency by forcing me to look at the advertisements that are in my way. I am sure that the advertisements were put there because it is such a good way to make sure

To really look at what is happening, we are being subjected to more and more advertisements day after day. Many times we are paying more just to have that item that a famous sports star advertised even though it is not any better in any way. I believe that we need to really think about why we want to buy a certain product. Let us not be slaves to the influences of the advertising industry. Let us think for ourselves and really look to see what is the best product, not just the best advertising.

Another trick that companies that have certain advertising restrictions do, such as cigarettes, is to say that they are against their own product. Now days we do not see regular cigarette commercials on television because of government regulation. What they will do instead is go on television and say that they are paying money so people will stop smoking. Is that their real intention of putting on television an anti-smoking campaign? It is very obvious that they don't care if someone quits smoking or not. Their desire is that their name be a more familiar name. They want their name to be known to many people and to be known as "the good guys" that are on everyone's side.

Things that we are told by our heroes and other important people don't necessarily have to be true. What would make us think that the opinion of someone that has no relation to a field would know what product is better? For example we will see sports stars advertise things such as deodorant or even underwear. Do they really know something we don't? Of course they don't. That is why we need to really think about a product carefully if their advertising is solely based on the fact that a star is advertising it for them.

that people see what you are selling.
