Thomas Hanks was born July 9, 1956 in Concord, California. Hanks was the third of four children born to Amos Hanks, a chef, and Janet Hanks, a registered nurse. His relationship with his older siblings, Larry and Sandra, is really tight, but he is not as close to his younger brother, Jim.

Tom had a very confusing life growing up. His parents divorced when he was five years old, and he, Larry, and Sandra went to live with their father, but Jim stayed to live with their mother. Both parents remarried more than once, Janet three time and Amos twice. Hanks moved around a lot as a child

Hanks is very private about his personal life, but after living three years in Cleveland, Ohio from 1979 through 1982, he became a huge fan of the Cleveland Indian baseball team. He still tries to attend baseball games whenever possible.
