marijuana-why and what
Weed: Why they do it, and what it does Mike opened the back door to his friend Joanna's house, walked outside, and was greeted by six of his buddies who were all smoking weed. They asked him if he wanted to join the party, and, gladly accepting the invite, he sat on a bench and joined in the festivities by smoking the night away. Two hours later, the whole crowd was busy raiding the kitchen with the munchies, just needing some food to satisfy the craving. This sight has not become uncommon in today's society. These days, it is more of a commonplace amongst people in their late teens and early twenties. But it is not just this age group that smokes. People of all ages smoke, be it 50, or 13, there is someone out there smoking. Why do people do it? And what does it do to you? These are the two questions that this paper is intended to answer. Why do they smoke? This is a very valid question. But I can guarantee one thing. Whoever is asking it has never smoked before. For a first time smoker chances are that their reasons are going to be one of two things, or a combination of the two. It will most likely be curiosity, or peer-pressure. Probably more along the lines of curiosity, because
most smokers won't push the issue if you tell them that you don't want to smoke. After the first time, they may never do it again. Others may choose to keep smoking, and to me, I don't see a problem with that, I personally don't think weed is that bad, but many other people see quite a different perspective. Another reason I think people smoke is so they can relax. This is probably one of the more common reasons that people will say they smoke weed. It is a very good relaxant, and the results are almost immediate. You don't have to wait an hour for the medicine to kick in. If it's taking a long time to kick in, it will be 20 minutes. Then you are "jus chillin'" as some people say. Now, probably the biggest reason that people smoke weed, but probably the least admitted, is that weed is fun to smoke. After you smoke, you are happy, and the world is good, and nothing can get you down. You can't be sad when you are high. You are too busy laughing. The reasons I personally used to smoke marijuana went like this: the first time, it was me deciding that I wanted to see what it was like, and the opportunity presented itself, so I jumped on it. There was absolutely no peer pressure involved. From my experiences in smoking, if someone asks you if you want to smoke, and you say no, they aren't usually going to push the issue, they will just go find someone else. Another reason I smoked we to occasionally relax. There were days when I came home and felt like I had been beaten with a bat and left for dead in a field (figuratively speaking). So when I got home, I would light up a joint, smoke it, and feel suddenly like a new person. But the main reason that I smoked marijuana was because it was fun. When me and my friends would get totally toasted, then go up to the high school to pick up my sister after a football game (she is in the band), it would be so fun to see what other people said to us and how we responded to them. Thus concludes my beliefs on why people smoke marijuana. There are also a few beneficia
