Daily Grind - Commute to Schoo
It all starts with the annoying sound of my morning alarm clock...buzzzzzz, buzzzzzz, 7buzzzzzz, buzzzzzz. It is at that moment, I know it is time to get going- it's time for school. I see the bright reflection of the sun, shinning vibrantly off of the egg shell colored garage through my sliding glass door causing my sensitive pupils to rapidly tighten. The pain! As I stand up, the only comfort I feel is the beige carpeting between my toes and padding my feet, as I groan my way to the echoing bathroom for my morning duties. As I search for the light switch in the bathroom, I feel the smooth wallpaper rubbing against my fingertips. Click... the soft glow of my bathroom light gently illuminates the otherwise dark section of my house. As I gently turn the left sink faucet, the running sink water is much unlike the soothing spinkles of a nearby waterfall. As I am waiting for the water to warm up, I pop the top off my orange can of shaving gel and apply the cold substance to my face. My three-bladed silver handled razor glides roughly over my newly whiskered face. With each stoke of the blade, I can feel the refreshing feeling (almost newly breathing) of newly exposed skin. It's like a deep breath on a cold w
As I pull up to Julie's house, Sid (her Pit Bull) starts barking until he sees it's just me. Getting out of my car, I slam the door and walk up to her bedroom entrance. As I slide the heavy glass door open, the noise of it opening goes from a low tone gradually to a higher one. The smell of fish food whiffs out. "Hey Babe," my overly tired voice pushes out as my stomach tightens. "Can I feed your fish?", I say with a smile. Her lips are warm and moist from her shower as I kiss her for the first time of the day. The smell of her shampoo is refreshing and clean smelling. As she finishes getting herself ready to go to school with me, I grab her black nylon Adidas duffel bag she uses for soccer and go to put it in to the trunk. She says something to me but I can't hear her, I'm outside closing the still wet trunk from condensation. My engine roars as I speed up to accelerate over the speed humps along her street. EEEAAAK! I hit the brakes at the end of her street by the orange trees and the three XR4TI's parked in the house across the street's driveway. As we continue towards school, I lean over to kiss her again. 'Yuck,' she put on that raspberry lip gloss again! The look of seriousness she flashes at me makes me laugh in my still deep, tired voice. As we turn down Yorba Linda, the smell of freshly made, mass produced burritos comes from the Taco Bell close by. The swerving road and music provide a somehow comforting feeling to me. The gripping sound of my newly purchased tires hugging the road, the music, the fresh morning smell, and the vanella-roma car odor fills the air around us. As I walk back to her room, I feel something touch my face and I jump- 'another spider web' I yell "c'mon Babe, we're late." As Julie's key turns clockwise to lock her door, her keys rattle and the lock squeaks. We then get in to the car and head out for school. As she turns up the music, I can hear her softly singing whatever song is now playing on my under powered radio. As we drive a
