Acid Rain an how does my car effect the environment
Well to start things off I will give a brief description of acid rain. Acid rain comes from burning fossil fuels such as gas or coal. The main ingredients of acid rain are sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide. In the US, more than seventy percent of this sulfur dioxide comes from power plants. (Encarta) The largest suppliers of nitrogen oxide are cars and trucks with forty three percent. (Encarta)
This brings me to my next point what effects do acid rain has on our environment. Well acid rain is a corrosive and it corrodes every thing it comes in contact with. Over time acid rain can kill fish in lakes and streams, animals in the forests, and weaken man made buildings. So what is being done to correct problems like this?

The foreign market such as Toyota and Honda are doing something to buck the trend of these super powerful gas guzzling cars and trucks. They have been experimenting with cars that are fully electric or have a fuel and electric engine these are called hybrid cars. Hondas evo-1 is revolutionary due to the fact that it will get 60 miles to the gallon. With gas prices soaring up to two dollars a gallon in some places I tend to think that we will be seeing more efficient cars in the future.
