The problems with the Electoral College are that it is outdated, confusing, and contraversial. These problems will be demonstrated by actually explaining how the Electoral College works with the possible solutions to them.

Now that I have explained how the Electoral works I can point out the flaws and possible solutions. The first problem is the Electoral College system is complicated. The Framers tried to think every little detail but in the mean time made the process of electing a President quite involved. Instead of voting for who you want to be President, you cast a vote for who you want the Electors to vote for. That seems unnecessary. Not only is it complicated but it causes your vote to get lost within your state. If your state goes to the opposite canidate from who you voted for, your voted might has well been for the other canidate. I propose that the election of the President should be based on the popular vote of the voting public. This would end the confusion and your vote would be important to the nation and not just your state. To do this Amendment 12, 14, and 24 must be changed. We must prove to the Supreme Court that the Electoral College is not within the people's best interest by telling the Senate and House of Representatives to vote for a change. Once 2/3 of each branch votes for a change, then ¾ of the states must vote for the change also, usually voted by popular vote but can also be done by state legislature. The government was made by the people, for the people. Let them do their job and work for us.

This proposal shows that change is needed in the way the President of the United States of America, arguably the most pwerful man in the world, is elected to office. The Electoral College must be changed or dropped. It is time for the voting public to get the word out to the local, state, and national government; or even your neighbor. Change will take time, but anything worth fighting for is worth waiting for.
