After a long and drawn out week of work, or school for that matter, most people like to relax and let their mind wander off to distant places. Sometimes, this momentary leaving of reality helps aid in the relieving of all the stresses and worries of the world. Storytelling has always been away to allow such a distance from the world. Things may have changed a bit on how we tell our stories but the end product is the same. With the drastic improvements of computer generated graphics, the movie industry has pushed itself into new arenas of storytelling. If it can be imagined, the idea can be made to appear on the big screen. The latest craze to hit the movie industry is the computer animated full feature film. It seems as though the push has been towards comedic, family oriented films. Shrek, the latest enhanced film has just recently been brought out on video, and is taking the world by storm. There is no doubt that Shrek is a wonderful film for all ages.

Shrek is a bright and refreshing new way of looking at traditional fairytales. The computer graphic film contains brilliant coloring and wonderful sound effects. The stimulation is constant through out the entire film and never leaves you nodding off. With out the use of human actors, voices were dubbed over the animation, which breathed life into the figures. The comedic value was a continuous flow of dialogue full of one liners and an overall story that always deserved full attention. The characters of the movie were easy to fall in love with and relate to, which makes for a very personal feeling towards a movie. If a movie is based on something we can relate to, than acceptance is given so much more freely. The feeling of fear arose when the princess rescue attempt seemed to just about fail. The feeling of victory rushed over me when the story ended in storybook fashion. The story was fluent and never jumped around to where the feeling of being lost was not a problem.
