Before the 20th century, there were too many preconceived ideas of people. Whether it is a black person, an Indian, or a woman, everyone had his/her stereotypes. What the Lowell factory did is abolish one of those stereotypes. It got rid of the notion of the submissive woman and gave rise to the reality of an independent lady. She may still have been just as righteous as before but now she had the ability to make her own decisions and be able back up those judgments with her own ideas. Surely it was a new time for humanity and the start of an irreversible era.

But he knew that the people of the New World were not always so accepting of the ideas of the old world. In America, people had grown accustomed to their new ways and did not want to have anything to do with any old fashioned notions. But this textile industry was not old fashioned. It was actually quite modern, and the impact that it would have in the New World would be one that was never dreamed of before. Lowell knew that women would be the best type of workforce for a textile factory. And in America, there were many farm girls and other young ladies that would be more than willing to go out and earn their own paychecks. And so the advertising and hiring of new workers for the textile factory went underway. It was surprisingly successful.
