Medieval Story
There was once a boy named Robert Birdchaser, he was from the country known as England. Robert's family was very poor and lived in a rather small cottage near the edge of some woods that led to a gigantic castle known as castle Duncshire. This castle was a very bustling great castle in England with a great king ruling over it named King Duncshire. This is a story of a squire from the countryside around Duncshire named Robert Birdchaser. Robert Birdchaser was a poor squire to a most noble knight named Sir Torben. Sir Torben constantly hit and mistreated Robert by puting the blame on him and telling Robert it was his fault that he lost the great jousting tournaments. He would tell Robert he was a horrible squire and that he would never become a Knight to the great king of Duncshire. This most horrible knight of the king was soon to get what was coming to him. The only thing was that Robert didn't know that he was the one that was going to be doing it. Robert was walking in the castle one day in his normal attire of a peasant; leather pants, a bear hide tunic, and a beaver hide cap. Upon this walk in the castle he ran into a man who was running frantically, who tripped and fell, dropping a bag
Robert woke up late the next afternoon and quickly headed out of bed and asked the inkeep where to find the mayor, or Donatello, the artist from sticks and stones. The inkeep sent him on his way towards the mayors home near the brook on the East side of town. Robert knocked on the mayors house and was allowed to enter after disarming himself and leaving his boots at the door. The mayor was in deep conversation with a weird looking man for ten minutes before he sent him off and allowed Robert time to talk to him. Robert quickly told the mayor of his quest, and of sticks and stones and how he needed some artwork of Donatello. The mayor laughed and told Robert to follow him. The mayor led Robert into a huge room with many pieces of art, like it was storage room just for art. The mayor told Robert that he planned on making it a place where people pay to see art work. He had gotten the idea for a few gold pieces from a travelling man who called it a museum. The mayor seemed pleased with himself and Robert asked him if he held any of Donatellos works. Robert needed the Candleabra angels, and hoped to god that Donatello had them on him. Robert was sent to Donatello who was in his travelling wagon and asked him about the angels. Donatello had them and quickly handed them to Robert, who looked puzzled and asked Donatello how much he wanted for them. Donatello replied that Robert was the first knight to ever ask for his work, and he was feeling generous to a man who just saved a whole town. Robert thanked Donatello and quickly headed towards the mayors home where his horse was. Robert got to the blacksmith and completed his task for Sir Torben so he decided to take the newly found armor home first and then return Sir Torben his horse. Robert left his armor in his room and caught a bite to eat from the table. Robert ate some old bread with some chunks of chicken meat and root from a pot over the fire. This was common eating for Robert, so he didnt't really mind eating it every day. Robert quickly finished his food and got back on the horse and returned to Sir Torben his horse. The king walked with the Robert through one of his glorious orchards of apples. The king took two apples and gave Robert one to eat. Robert was beginning to really like the great king. The king told Robert that he wanted Robert to retrieve three great artifacts that he wanted. Robert quickly told the king he was no Knight, but the squire to Sir Torben. The king quickly lost his smile and then began to grin. The king told Robert that if he could beat the great jouster Sir Torben, in a jousting match that he could win Knighthood. Robert was ready to joust because ever since he saw his first jousting tournament he would go home every day and practice jousting with homemade lances on trees and scarecrows. The king laughed and told Robert that in two days his tournament will be held and he had that long to prepare. Robert grinned and asked the king if he could bring his own armor. The king nodded and sent Robert on his way home with one hundred gold pieces to assure his mother was well done for the months that Robert would be gone. Robert's dreams had finally come true thanks to his king. Robert walked slowly up the greeat hall towards the ceremony room. Robert couldn't help but smile under his armor as he heard his own steps heading towards his knighthood. Thirty of the kings knights lined the walkway towards the king and his bishop. Robert walked slowly until he was at the feet of the bishop and the king. He kneeled on one knee and the bishop began a prayer to open the ceremony. The king continued with his swearing in speech that he had for all of his knights, asking for loyalty, bravery, and honor. Robert swore to uphold these principles and he was finally a knight.
