Love, prayer, and togetherness: these are all qualities, and expectations of, Christianity. Carrie is about a young woman who is in high school and is very unpopular. The one person who is decent to her is the gym teacher and even she is just pretending. Carrie's father left them both when she was young and now just the two of them now live together in a small two-story house. Both Carrie and her mother are extremely religiousChristian. Carrie's mother makes following the bible her whole life;, at the beginning of the movie she is just slightlya little overboard then. Her mother takes it to the extreme when handling Carrie and other people. The belief inThe Christ and the Bible begin to drive Carrie's mother more and more insane. Christianity is the reason for the atrocities that are committed in "Carrie"; it is an on-going theme in the movie. The first scene in the movie is Carrie in the shower. All the other girls are joking around and getting dressed while Carrie is still bathing. In the middle of taking her shower she gets her first period. When she sees the blood, Carrie becomes extremely frightened because her mother has never told her why that happens. Carrie starts screaming and runs to
Christianity played a huge part in the last scene of the movie. This was the Prom scene toward the end of the movie. She was beginning to fit in and everything was going well for her. She was elected won prom queen and was standing up on the stage; she was feeling normal for once. Then a horrible event happened. , Aa girl that hated her dropped a bucket of pig's blood on Carrie's head in front of everyone. She was incredibly embarrassed and humiliated ., Wwhat fragile self-esteem and self-confidence Carrieshe had accumulated with her date Tom,; she lost all at onceone time. After that, she just could notn't control herself and, she hit her breaking point all at and her once to find her once calm telekinetic powers explodinged. She killed her senior class and most of the teachers at the Prom. Carrie even killed her gym teacher, the same teacher that held Carrie in her arms with such love and tenderness. Carrie was so helpless and innocent then, but not anymore. As she walked home, she finally started to calm down., After returning home, she went inside, up to her room in the attic, and took a bath. She washed herself clean of the blood that was poured upon her.spilt that night. As she walked back into her bedroom, room her mother was standingstood there behind the door. When Carrie walked into her room Carrie's mother closed the door and turned around. Carrie fell into her arms weeping, hoping to receive the same love and reassurance that her teacher had given her. She was completely destroyed over what had happened to her at the Prom. Her mother again quoted scripture about sinning and reached behind Carrie and into a crack in the floor. She pulled out a knife and stabbed Carrie in the back. Carrie fell backwards and tried to get away from her mother., Hher mother thought she was doing the right thing by killing this "sin" of hers. When Carrie was cornered, she lost control and her telekinetic powers erupted again. Carrie, out of self-defense, made knives fly out of the kitchen drawers and stab her mother. Carrie did notn't stab her mother just once; she stabbed her six6 or seven7 times. The knives hit her in her hands and "nailed" her in a cross- like position to a wooden door frame. The other knives that hit her body were in the exact same position as the arrows that were in the figure which portrayed Jesus's body on theher cross in herthe closet. This portrayed Carrie's mother as Jesus. , Jesus was prosecuted and killed for his beliefs; he was killed out of self-defense by the priests who feared him. Carrie's mother was also killed out of self-de
