Animal testing...is it necessary? YES. I am here today to talk to youabout the recent discoveries scientists and doctors have uncovered using this contriversial method of research. Many say that these tests are wrong,that they are not needed. I disagree. We need this type of research to expand our mindset on finding the cures and medicines used to heal millions of diseases worldwide. Not only for humans, but Dr.Carl Cohen, a professor at the University of Michigan Medical School defines RIGHTS as something that one can only have if they have a sense of morality,can accept the rules of society, and recognize the rights of others. Therefore, when animal rights activists,such as PETA:People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals say that animal research denies an animal of it’s right.....they have nothing to prove that. According to Cohen, animals do not/can not have rights because they do not understand August 2,1987-a writer for The Washington Times said “People involved in the animal rights movement consider the life of a cat,dog,chicken or pig to be equal to the life of a human.
