False Fairytales

Disney wants you to think of fairytales and magic kingdoms when their name comes up. This special company is really a money making giant at heart. As Eric Smoodin said "Disney has had its corporate finger in more sociocultural pies then perhaps any other twentieth century producer of mass entertainment," (Heller 330). Disney tells you to pass the videos down to each generation of children but that's so they can catch you and your children in their grip. As nice and pretty as the company seems on the outside, inside they are a raw monster that wishes nothing more then to make big bucks. Some would consider this to be horrible and unprofessional to use kids to get to their parents money, but all the other toy companies out there are doing the same thing. In fact that's what most companies are out to do; make lots of money be any means necessary. What is really so wrong is the movies that Disney makes are sending the wrong messages to the kids. Such as in The Little Mermaid where Arial only gets her true love when she has her voice; a girl watching this might get the impression that only with a wonderful voice like Arial's could they capture the man of their dreams. In other movies like Beauty and The Beast and Pocahontas t

Disney's whole focus as a company is to get parents' money by using their kids while also giving false information to the youth of our world. It's sad to see how corrupt and uncaring a company like Disney has become. They only see green instead of all the other colors of the spectrum. This company has a racket far too good to let go of. Young children will still continue to be glued down in front of these stories because of how deeply rooted Disney has themselves in our culture. Those ears have become a cultural icon that nobody is ever going to get rid of. Parents are just going to have to deal with the Disney craze until their kids discover just how horrid the company really is.

Two other movies that also contain messages that young minds soak up are Beauty & The Beast and Pocahontas. In the magical tale of how a young women falls in love with a beast lies a message about our modern world. Many homes in the United States are also home to domestic violence. A problem with this issue is that the abused allow the abusive to come back into their lives with open arms. That is exactly what happens in Disney's magical tale of Beauty & The Beast. Bell, another beautiful women, continues to love the beast even though he is abusive and destructive. He goes off on rampages in the castle that causes Bell to cry. When she does he stops and says he is sorry and they make up. That is exactly how domestic abuse happens. Young children seeing this think it's OK to lose control and be destructive because their "true love" will always stay with them. It was bad enough having Donald Duck explain the new tax system (Heller 322), but Bell and the Beast for domestic abuse is just too idiotic. What was Disney thinking?

Picture a happy place of joy where dreams and all other sorts of magic come to life. Is it something like Disney? If so then you are one of many who have been brainwashed by Disney to associate them with joy and imagination. By doing this, the company secures that even if people aren't buying their products, their name is branded into everyone's head. This is Disney's evil little plan to monopolize the imaginations of all people. At a young a
