Drunk Driving

It is parents rather than alcohol ads, with the greatest influence over young people. Many parents drink alcohol themselves, so it iShould alcohol be illegal? Many people feel that it should be, because of the effect it has on our minds, and the harm it causes to people's lives. It is illegal for someone to kill or assault someone, so the substance they drink that alters their mind to make the decision should be illegal.

There is an organization called MADD, which stands for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. This organization was founded in 1980 after a 13 year-old-girl was killed by a hit and run driver. He had been out of jail on bail for only two days for another hit-and-run drunk driving crash and had three previous drunk driving arrests and two convictions. He was allowed to plea bargain to vehicular manslaughter. Although he was sentenced to two years in prison, the judge allowed the offender to serve time in work camp and later a halfway house. This organization is made up of moms, dads, and young people. MADD's prevention efforts focused on drunk driving and underage drinking, these efforts have helped save more than 183,000 lives since


If I were to compare alcohol to marijuana, they have almost, if not the same effect as alcohol does. Some of the sort term effects of marijuana include: impairment of short-term memory and logical thinking, confusion, impaired coordination, impaired motor ability, altered perception, and impaired ability to concentrate. Some of the long-term effects are slow confused thinking, memory impairment, respertory problems, and cancer.

Since we just can't automatically change the law to make alcohol illegal, we can start by making it more and more difficult for drinkers to get a hold of alcohol, and by installing harsher drunk driving laws, that get worse and worse until the drunk driving death rates are down to almost nothing.
