The novel The Bluest Eye deals with the absence of love in a child’s life. By reading the novel it was obvious that Pecola had no love in her life. Pecola didn’t even have the love that a family is supposed to provide. I’m sure her mother loved her, but she never showed affection towards her daughter. Pecola’s self-image was nonexistent, because of this lack of love. She had to go through her life not knowing what love even was. She had to ask Claudia and Fredia how do you get someone to love you.
