Odyssey Summaries

Book 1: Athena, with the permision of Zues, visits Telemachus disguised as Mentes and tells Telemachus that Odysseus (his father) is alive; Telemachus gets inspire to rid Ithaca of the suitors because of Athena’s words.

Book 2:Telemachus talks to the suitors and tells them that they will be punished; Athena helps Telemachus organize a crew to search for his father.

Book 3:gives Telemachus supplies and the aid of his son, Peisistratus.

Book 4:Telemachus and Athena disguised as Mentes set sail to visit King Nestor, who tells Telemachus to go to Sparta with his son Pisistatus to see Menelaus, who might know about his father’s location.

Book 5:Athena helped per sway the gods to free Odysseus from Calypso; Calypso gives Odysseus supplies and Odysseus sets sail on a hand made raft that is soon ship wrecked to the island of the Phaeacians by Poseidon.
