A detailed Summary of Political Philosophy
There has been rarely a time more necessary for the general public to call to mind Plato's Allegory of the Cave. While the recent tragedy in New York and Washington may seem an odd reason to turn to this allegory, they are precisely the reason that we must. Over the course of the next couple of weeks, the American public will be bombarded with "shadows of artificial things" presented as truth. This bombardment began moments after the initial attack. In order to avoid catastrophe the American public must do the impossible within the next few weeks and months- learn to think.
The American mass media has an agenda that has become obvious to those willing to search for it. The coverage of the attack on the Trade Towers and the Pentagon has been sophisticatedly manipulated from minute one. Within hours, before any evidence could possibly have been recovered, pictures of Osama bin Laden were thrust onto he screen adjacent the wreck

Yet we must drag the citizens away from their TV's and their radios and make them see that things may not be as they appear. We must make them ask: isn't it a little convenient that we have just one more autonomous three-named man, on whom to place all of the blame? We must make them ask: isn't it a little odd that our entire financial district was destroyed within days of what could have been a collapse anyway? And most of all we must make them ask: Who gains from our involvement in a war in the Middle East? I don't possess all of the answers, but I am chasing down the questions. And as Aldous Huxley said, "You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you mad."
