Sad America

I don't think it makes a difference what first brought to my attention the fact that America sucks. But incase you were wondering it was our countries "knee jerk reaction" to the World Trade Center tragedy. I know It's not fair to say that the whole country sucks; however, I have lost faith in our media, our government, and the majority of the general public. The reason for my loss of faith in them is: from my point of view, not one of these three has shown any interest in looking at a situation objectively, or trying to uncover the truth. Even though it is now, October 3, (thirty three days since the tragedy occured) I still have yet to see an end to this lack of objectivity and dissinterest in uncovering the truth. So Im going to decide now that calling any of the evidence Im going to use to try and prove my point, a mere "knee jerk reaction" is B.S..

Call me impatient, but im just waiting for someone, anyone, to ask what seems to me the most obvious question. Why was America, out of all places, attacked? I mean if someone slaps you out of the blue don't you usually say, "What was that for?"? But Americans, the media, and the politicians seem much more concerned with airport security, nationalism, reveng

e, and war. Even in the rare event when people are questioning why we were attacked, the pretentious answers they come up with all amount to a one word answer, jealousy. The majority of American people assume the terrorists were jealous because of our country's money or our status as a world power. These answers don't satisfy me. Im convinced only we Americans are so concerned with money and power, that we could see jealousy as a real motive for such a brutal attack.

I am scared. I am not afraid of another attack on New York. I am fearful that we are about to attack who knows where, and hurt God knows how many more innocent people. And for what end? To fill the loss we have endured with the taste of sweet revenge? Or to make martyrs out of the terrorists who attacked us, and/or possibly engaging in a potential third world war? Any of these outcomes terrify me. And I am not hopeful, it seems to me we are headed on a collision course straight for disaster. I feel let down by our system. I never thought I would see America this way. As children we are taught that we are fortunate to live in this land of the free and home of the brave. If freedom and bravery come at the price of truthfulness, objectivity, awareness and compassion than I don't think it's worth it.

Why has our President become a bounty hunter? Is George W. Bush truly just being the puppet representative of the genuine anger of Americans by his calls for retaliation? Or is he himself too unknowledgeable to see that the problems are with our own country. After all the man had never left this country until his office called him to do so. Does no one else see something majorly wrong with that? Not to mention, he was seen as arrogant in the way in which he addressed other world leaders. And his foreign policy includes a best interest of America policy; as well as a policy of not extending ourselves.
