Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by R. L. Stevenson, is a story of mischief and selfishness. It starts out with a man, Dr. Jekyll, who doesn't like who he is. Being in an town that people hardly know who he is, he decides to create a potion that makes his good self split apart from his bad self into two different people. This is where Mr. Hyde comes into the picture. He is the bad self of Dr. Jekyll. He likes to party and have a good time and could care less about other people. He also gets himself into a lot of trouble in this story. For example, he gets a man killed. His total opposite, Dr. Jekyll, is a caring doctor whom everybody adores and loves. One day a problem occurs with the potion. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde can't become one at the end of the day as a normal person. They are both stuck inside the body of Mr. Hyde. He does the most rational thing he can think of and decides to lock Mr. Hyde?s body in his study upstairs. He tells all of his servants that he is sick and very contagious. To keep them from possibly hearing the commotion, he tells them to stay away from the study altogether. His only source of communication is to write notes to his servants.
