Like Christianity and Judaism, Islam recognizes Abraham as the patriarch of their religion and entire human family. Abraham went through many trials, tribulations, and made many sacrifices. Muslims consider him to have been trusted by Allah with the leadership of mankind. According to the Koran, Mohammed has spiritual lineage from Abraham. The Koran is their main religious text, revealed to Mohammed from Allah, or God, by the angel Gabriel. This time is now celebrated for a month, called Ramadan. The original Arabic text of the Koran is Allah's exact words and has been preserved for over fourteen hundred years. The Koran directly translated means "to read aloud." Mohammed described to Koran as "the Book, whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are believers [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)],"1.
