Joan of Arc

She rode off to war at the age of 17. Joan was convinced she was sent by God to save France. She was burned at the stake two years later at the age of 19. In the following, the events from her childhood to her death will be explained. Joan was born in 1412 on a farm. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a homemaker. Joan was trained to spin wool and mind cows. Like most girls of her time, Joan was not to read and write. Growing up, Joan was a devoted catholic. dethroned the Prince of France. Joan's village was attacked, which triggered the "voices" believed to have been sent from God. In conclusion, Joan was a woman of many things. She was a strong, determined young woman who totally believed in her faith and never let anything get in the way of what she wanted. She gained the trust of her people, the same people who betrayed her and led her to her death. Joan of Arc is truly a Saint. Joan wanted an army to defeat the English, and was made Captain of War. In March of 1429 she rode in armor. After Orleans being seven months under siege, the English fled. Joan was a natural athlete, and women as well as men admired her. She had an obligation to God and led her troops. Soon after, Joan was captured by the Burgundians in 1430 and was sold to the English.
