By 1963, President Kennedy increased troops to about 16,000. By 1965 the United States of America started to become more involved in the war. The United States did this because they wanted "...To reinforce the credibility of the United States as an ally..." By 1964, the number of American troops went up from 16,000 to about 500,000 . By the end of the war the number of American troops went down to about 23,000 .

The man was a general in the army. Little by little the man started to go crazy. A soldier was then give a mission to find the general. He was told the general had taken off and was living with a group of Indians deep in the jungle. The soldier left and after a long journey found the Indian village.

Another movie effected by the Vietnam War was The Deer Hunter, by Michael Cimino. The Deer Hunter shows the strong bond between friends. In a screening of the movie viewers were asked what they thought of the movie. The majority said the movie was too long and that the hour long wedding scene could be shortened. Otherwise the movie was great. Film editiors took the advice and cut down the wedding scene. The same viewers watched the movie again. The majority agreed that the film was not interesting shortened. This is because the wedding shows the strong bond between all of the friends. This is what sets the mood for when they go off to war.
