The thin class of individuals consider the disease of obesity to a deformity , and do not understand the ridicules and discriminations that can come as a result of a weight problem. The prejudices towards obese individuals is a serious as prejudices towards other groups such a racism, sexism and agism.( Jacobs 44) The medical profession considers obesity a disease , one that is spreading nation wide. Obese individuals need to be recognized so their health and human rights can be properly protected. Obese individuals experience discrimination in all aspects including in the workplace. The founding fathers tried to ensure that constitutional rights protect all individuals in the United States and not just those who are visually appealing.
