Although his birth date is unknown, it is documented that William Shakespeare was baptized in 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. William was the third of eight children. It is most likely that he was educated at the local grammar school where he attained his formal education and knowledge of Latin grammar and literature. After completing grammar school, it is believed that Shakespeare became a schoolmaster school. In 1582, Shakespeare married Anne Hathaway, the daughter of a local farmer. Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway had a daughter in 1583 and twins later in 1585. In 1586, it is said that Shakespeare left Stratford for London after being caught poaching deer in a park of Sir Thomas Lucy, a local justice of the peace. While in London, Shakespeare began his career as an actor and later a playwright. Some people looked down upon the thought of an actor becoming a playwright. Shakespeare wrote plays and acted for the Globe Theatre, for which he was a partial owner. Shakespeare’s most renowned plays were composed while he was a member of the traveling theater group, Lord Chamberlain’s Men, later know as The King’s Men.
