Jack feels responsible and tries to help Perry, but at first Jack only wants to ?pay his fine and get on with his life?, but this approach did not work. In the end of the movie Gillian shows a change in Jack when he feels compelled to steel a cup that Perry believes is the Holy Grail. Jack says to Perry ?If I do this. I?m doing it for you not me?, this shows that Jack is not thinking of himself, instead he only wants to help his friend. The few coincidences consist of the Holy Grail, and the red knight. At first glance the Holy Grail might seem to be supernatural intervention. Yet it is actually no more than a cup given to someone for winning a contest, proven by the inscription ?Given for recognition of? ? found on the cup. The Holy Grail actually only represents true friendship with no strings because Jack is risking everything, not for himself, but for Perry. Another instance that might seem to be supernatural intervention is the red knight riding through New York City. The knight is only an image in Perry?s mind that began after the trauma of his wife?s death.
