What companies do to get your attention There are many ways to catch the reader's eye. Companies use everything from sex appeal to escape to catch the reader's eye. Most companies use half to a full page to advertise their product. They make the ads say this product is perfect for you, so you would go out and buy their product. Ads are everywhere not only in magazines. They are on TV, in newspapers, billboards, etc. I've chosen 3 ads out of the People magazine. These ads focus mainly on physiological needs, aggression, domination, and aesthetic sensation. People is a magazine that targets anyone who loves to gossip. Peolple is the magazine of gossip of celebrities. Most ads in the People magazine are cosmetic supplies and ads that attract women in the late 20's to about women in their mid 50's. The first ad that I seen was an ad for Pepperidge Farm Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies. This ad has a giant chocolate chip cookie in the center of the page surrounded by chunks of chocolate. Under the cookie it says, "If you're going to have a cookie, have a cookie." Further down at the bottom of the page it says "Never Have An Ordinary Day." This ad caught my eye because it had a gi
ant cookie on it and made me feel like eating a cookie. This ad appeals to Physiological needs. Everyone once in a while wants some type of sweet. This ad is trying to say this cookie doesn't compare to any other cookie. It's an extraordinary cookie. This ad with a giant cookie on it actually made me get up and go get a cookie from my kitchen. Readers always want to try something new and exciting, so that's what companies are going to advertise. They will advertise things that people will read or at least look at. Readers are also very curious and that's another type of appeal that companies will use. I seen this one ad it took up the whole page. In the center it had a pill, about the size of a fist, the pill said the name of the drug. At the bottom it said, "Ask your doctor about (the name of the pill). My exact words were "what the hell?" That ad was stuck in my head for weeks. What do you know I went to my doctor to ask him what that pill was? Companies are very smart; they do lots of things to catch you attention. Be careful everyone don't be fooled into buying the product advertised. The next ad that caught my eye was the ad for Quidad. This product "...helps restore the natural beauty, bounce and shape." Quidad's ad starts off from the
