Airline Hi-jacking
On September 11, 2001, two commercial airlines hit the Pentagon and another toppled the World Trade Center. This is a day that will live in infamy; the freedoms that Americans had once enjoyed were being challenged by a group of cowards. People were plummeting to their deaths, afraid of being burnt alive. Thousands of Americans were incinerated, and debris and ashes covered New York like a blanket of snow. The September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon created a rude awakening for the airline industry and the FAA in the United States. Until that day, airline security in the United States was lax: proper security measures were not being taken on the ground. Employees in the airports were hired through a security company, which the airlines contract, paying the workers minimum wage without benefits. Reports have shown that some United States airports have had a 300 percent overturn rate for ground personnel in the airports. With this high of a turn over, effective training is not given to the employees. As a result, they do not perform their jobs as they should and weapons such as razorblades and box cutters, which were used to hijack airplanes in the September 11th attacks, are allowed through the gates
