A detailed Summary of Oedipus


Oh, why do all the clues to who murdered Laius seem to lead to me? If I had known it was he I wouldn ever have been so stubborn, so pigheaded! I should have just moved over and let him continue on his merry way. Or no, better yet, HE should have moved over and let ME through! It serves him right! Oh, either way everything would have turned out so much better!

Oh, no it wasn't me! It COULDN'T have been me! Could it have? I didn't know! I had no ide! But I suppose if it was I, I must step up and take the circumstances like the man that I am! Like the man my mother and father brought me up ot be! Sure, I didn't know when I made the curse that I could be the murderrer or Laius! But I still made it! What would my people think if I didn't take responsibility for my own actions? They would lose all respect for me! What would my daughters say if they knew that their father ran away from his problems? They would be emotionally scarred! No, I can't do that to them! I love them too much for that.
