Bell was born on March 3 1847, in Edinburgh Scotland, and educated at the universities of Edinburgh and London. . As a young boy, Alexander Graham Bell was home schooled until the age of ten were his mother began to go deaf, and prevented Bell to have an effective education. As the son and grandson of speech experts, he had a unique knowledge of the possibilities of sound. These two factors helped set Bell on the road to the invention of the telephone.
