Reflection of Theme of Resurre
"Passionate hatred can give meaning and purpose to an empty life." Every villain has a motive, a goal which makes them the person they are. But within every villain lays a Common theme, hatred. In the play King Lear and the novel Wuthering Heights the main characters share the common theme of Hate. Both Heathcliff and Edmund share hate for their peers, hate for their loved ones, and hate for themselves. The theme of hatred can be divided into three aspects: where it originated, where it blossomed and turned into revenge, and how it lead to both character's realization of the crimes and repentance. Similarly hatred can be compared to a flower and like every flower it has to be planted in order for it to grow. For the theme of hatred to become a dominate factor in both character lives, it would have to originate from somewhere. In Wuthering Heights, Heathcliff was an orphan on the streets of Liverpool. The protagonist's hatred was planted when he was a child brought to live at Wuthering Heights by Mr. Earnshaw. After Mr. Earnshaw dies, his resentful son Hindley abuses Heathcliff and treats him as a servant. With this actio
denied land from his father because of his status as a bastard, Edmund's hatred was frustrated love for Catherine. After Catherine passed away, Heathcliff realized that his by Hindley. Likewise for Edmund in King Lear, Edmund resents his status as a bastard
