Brave New world: useof science
In Brave New World the author, Aldous Huxley, uses science to keep the inhabitancy of his world down. The masses such as Linda and the Epsilons fallow blindly into the world they are told is the height of technological advancement. Methods such as conditioning lead them to this blind path, they believe their leader unconditionally with out thought other wise. The world leaders in turn used this to their advantage, the leaders created a world that would work more efficiently and put more money in their pocket. Later in the novel Mustapha Mond, the controller, reveals that the society functions only because science is limited. If one is suspected of an over interest in the sciences or not enjoying participating in costly or social events they are sent to a distant island so their infectious ideas will not spread. It is this disregard for advancement of life that John, a savage, can not live with and so eventually ends his life without the medication or the children in death de-sensitivity training. The world leaders have been able to use science to their own effect. They have used science to create a race that will fallow their every whim ?Major instruments of social stability, Standard men and women; in uniform batches. The whole of a small factory staffed with the products of a single Bokanovskified egg (Huxley,4).? Even the most scholarly of men and woman have limited knowledge. ?An intensive propaganda against viviparous reproduction accompanied by a campaign against the past? You?ve never herd of him of course?Such are the advantages of a really scientific education (Huxley,34).? One of the things the society thrives on is consumption. As such the people have been conditioned to spend, spend, spend ?We condition the masses to hate the country? But simultaneously we condition them to love all country sports. At the same time, we see to it that all country sports shall entail the use of elaborate apparatus. So that they consume manufactured articles as well as transport (Huxley,15).?The people have a dependency on soma, you could even call it an addiction.
