Fahrenheit 451 , and Anthem
Becoming an IndividualIn the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury and Anthem by Ayn Rand, the two main Characters, Guy Montag, and Equality struggle to become free from the society they are living in. In Fahrenheit 451 Guy rebelled against his society’s wishes and runs away. He runs away because in his society you cant read books and he chose to read them and he got caught, so he ran away. This was when Guy really looked inside of him and noticed how he has changed and became a different person. In the novel Anthem the main character Equality goes through just about the same changes. Equality rebelled against his society, and ran away to become an individual, because in his society you are not allowed to have knowledge and you are on the same level as everyone else. So Equality ran away and he went through a “rebirth” just like Guy Montag where Equality discovers who he really is and how he has changed from being just like everyone else to being his own person an individual. Then Equality goes through is a recreation of identity where he changes his name from Equality to Prometheus. The two main characters go on a wild ride going through three similar main stages of change where
