During Dickens time gift giving for Christmas was not a wide spread practice as there was not much gift giving in the novel. If I were to give a gift to Scrooge, Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchit they would have to be something they would need and use, but they would also have to be Throughout the novel there are scenes where Tiny Tim is limping around on his legs with a crutch.
