A Wizard Of Earthsea
The novel A Wizard of Earthsea is about a world of magic filled with wizards, dragons and evil. The story is about the protagonist's journey through magic and life, while trying to defeat the evil shadow that wants to consume him. Throughout the novel, A Wizard of Earthsea, Ged learned many valuable lessons concerning his philosophy of life and of good and evil. When Ged was young, he was full of pride and was inexperienced in the ways of the wizard, and due to this he unwillingly released an evil shadow that sought to totally consume him. These incidents cause Ged to learn valuable lessons concerning the appropriate use of his magic powers. From this conflict Ged became mature and wise, and the greatest wizard of his time. When Ged was young and in Roke, the school for wizards, he was full of pride. Ged's rival, Jasper, always looked down on him and never praised him. Ged was full of pride. "'I could of done better,' he said to himself, in bitter envy." (Pg.64) Most of all though, he wanted to show up his rival, Jasper. "Ged swore to himself to outdo his rival, and not in some mere illusion-match but in a test of power. He would prove himself and humiliate Jasper." (Pg. 57) Ged was very inexperien
